Chromium is a hard metal that adds corrosion resistance when alloyed with steel. Alone, it polishes to a mirror-like shine — that's why it's often used as decorative plating, where it's called "chrome." For oil and gas industry steel products, Continental adds varying quantities of chromium to molten steel to create the best and most cost-effective alloy solutions.

These metals are used in mildly corrosive environments containing chlorides, carbon dioxide and low hydrogen sulphate concentrations. Chromium is a hard metal that adds corrosion resistance when alloyed with steel. General purpose pipe manufactured to API specification 5CT. Similar to J55 but the minimum tensile strength is higher

Mechanical Bar & Tube
General purpose pipe manufactured to ASTM Specification 519. Similar to 4140 (which has a lower carbon level), 9CR has improved hardenability and is more commonly used in the higher strength >= 110ksi condition.

General purpose pipe manufactured to API specification 5CT. Available in both standard Quench and Tempered API N80 and lower cost Normalized API N80 (walls less than 0.5"). Inspection, testing and dimensions are in accordance with API 5CT for grade N80. Charpy V-notch impact test absorbed energy results meet API SR16 and are lower in Normalized N80 than Quench and Tempered N80.
